William Claussen’s hard work and perseverance, combined with the partnership and equally hard work of Chris Conant, has made Claussen’s what it is today. Claussen’s Florist and Greenhouse has expanded into one of the most successful plant growers in Vermont. We have been locally growing top quality plants ~ a William Claussen tradition ~ since 1972.
We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team of hardworking and caring individuals on staff.
Most of our talented employees have been with us for one or more decades.

William J. Claussen
Founder ~ August 24, 1939 - March 19, 2022
In 1972, an industrious man named William Claussen came to Vermont and started his own nursery and garden center. He manually built the greenhouses with the help of his energetic staff. From morning until night, through sweat and tears, he had a vision. From the beginning, he ran the cash registers, did the books, cared for the plants and managed the entire business almost single-handedly. Bill was an astute businessman with a firm touch. He knew what his goals were and did not stop until he reached them and beyond. Even while Bill was semi-retired, he remained the inspiration and backbone of our company. His energy is what our company continues to be built on today.
Sadly, Bill passed away in March of 2022. We are grateful that he was present for Claussen's 50th year!
