In 1972, an industrious man named William Claussen came to Vermont and started his own nursery and garden center. He manually built the greenhouses with the help of his energetic staff. From morning until night, through sweat and tears, he had a vision. From the beginning, he ran the cash registers, did the books, cared for the plants and managed the entire business almost single-handedly. Bill was an astute businessman with a firm touch. He knew what his goals were and did not stop until he reached them and beyond. Even while Bill was semi-retired, he remained the inspiration and backbone of our company. His energy is what our company continues to be built on today.
Sadly, Bill passed away in March of 2022, we are very grateful that he was present for Claussen's 50th year!
