Claussen's is looking for an experienced (3+ years) and creative floral designer to join our team! Claussen’s Florist, Greenhouse & Perennial Farm of Colchester, VT is a full-service garden center and florist open year round. If you love working with florals and plants, this is the right place for you!

We are looking for candidates that have the ability to (but is not limited to) design for everyday/standard and customized arrangements, such as special events, funerals and wedding. This position require roughly 50% floral design work  and 50% customer service.

Claussen's is one of the largest retailer and growers of houseplants & seasonal crops in Vermont. Previous work experience and knowledge in plants & plant care is required.

Additional Requirements:

• 3+ years experience in the floral industry and design work with knowledge of flower types, arrangement styles, and flower conditioning is required.
• A love & knowledge of plants... houseplants and seasonal crops (such as annuals, perennials, mums, poinsettias, etc.)
• Exceptional customer service & friendly, professional demeanor- a large part of this position is assisting customers (in-person or over the phone) to celebrate a special occasion (birthday, wedding, special event) as well as preparing arrangements to say goodbye to a loved one.
• Detail-oriented

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Design daily arrangements for in-store cooler, as well as designing floral arrangements based on customers specifications. Maintaining an accurate record of floral arrangement orders, special requests, and delivery information.
• Unpacking and organizing deliveries, and maintaining proper care of flowers.
• Answering a multi-line phone system, directing phone calls to the correct departments and assisting customers with phone floral orders, and Plant Rental orders.
• Designing & displaying seasonal merchandise.
• Ensuring that the floral shop (& garden center when needed) remains clean and well-organized.
• Assisting in our Garden Center customers with questions of plants & plant care, as well as checkout of plants, hard goods, fertilizers, pottery and gift items.
• Invoicing commercial charge accounts.

Job Type: Full-time (40+- hrs a week)

Schedule:

• Daily shifts: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm (8 hr days)
• Weekends & Holidays are required
• We are OPEN 7 days a week

Compensation (based on previous experience) pay range $18.50 - $20.00 per hour
