Bill ClaussenWilliam Claussen
President

In 1972, an industrious man named William Claussen came to Vermont and started his own nursery and garden center. He built the greenhouses with the help of his energetic staff. From morning until night, through sweat and tears, he had a vision. For years, Bill worked on making his dreams come true. From the beginning, he ran the cash registers, did the books, cared for the plants and managed the entire business almost single-handedly. Bill is an astute business man with a firm touch. He knew what his goals were and did not stop until he reached them and more. His kind of energy is what our company is built on today. Although he is semi-retired, Bill remains the inspiration and backbone of our company.

Denyse Conant
Chief Financial Officer

Chris Conant came on board with Bill in the late 70's. A young man with the energy of three people, Chris had visions of his own. He wanted to help take this company into the future. With his innovative ideas, Chris has taken over the torch at Claussen’s and has brought the company into the 21st century. Chris is the first one in (sometimes at 3:00 AM!), and he’s always the last one to leave. He's not afraid of hard work, and he always gets his hands dirty.

Denyse Conant oversees the business office and Chris and Denyse's three children, Jessi, Ali and Nate, work together to help their parents and the business in any way they can. The entire Conant family carries on the Claussen tradition of hard work and dedication.

DukeDuke
Resident Dog/General Greeter

When visiting our greenhouses in Colchester, you will more than likely run into Duke, the Conant’s dog. Duke is about the friendliest Golden Retriever you will ever meet. He smiles at you and wags his tail. Duke loves attention and is always happy to make a new friend.

William Claussen’s hard work and perseverance, combined with the partnership and equally hard work of Chris Conant, has made Claussen’s what it is today. Claussen’s Florist and Greenhouse has expanded into one of the most successful plant growers in Vermont. We’ve been growing top quality, Vermont-Grown plants, a William Claussen tradition, for over thirty-five years.
